Morrisville Little League Spring - Transition Division
Eligibility: Players ages 6 or 7 who have played 2 years in the Intro to Tee Ball / Tee Ball divisions or players age 8, as drafted, or requested by parent. Ages are as of August 31st, 2022.
Purpose: The transition division is designed to aid in the transition from non-competitive T-ball to competitive baseball as played in the minor baseball division. It is expected to have great diversity in player developments and intended to be focused on teaching fundamentals, the rules of baseball with heavy emphasis on players and coaches learning safety. There should be progression toward player independence of on-field and continuous coaching as well as competitive play. Each player is entitled to a defined minimum of position exposure and an equal opportunity of batting opportunities. This league should offer a great opportunity to strengthen interest in baseball for those that are new as well as support the competitive development of those with prior exposure.
Basic Structure: Players are placed on a team via the annual draft – held in late February / early March.Teams will play other teams from Morrisville Little League.Teams will typically play two games per week from early April through early June.Teams will practice once per week Games last 5 innings.Score is kept. An inning ends when either 3 outs are recorded or 4 runs are scored.Coaches pitch for the first half of the season. Players pitch for the second half of the season. There is no stealing, no bunting and no walks.Every player gets a trophy at the end of the season.
Equipment: The league will provide each player with a hat, shirt, pants and socks.The league will provide each team with bats, balls, catcher’s gear, helmets, first aid kit and ice packs.Each player needs to have his/her own glove. Each player should wear sneakers or rubber cleats. Boys must wear a protective cup.
Location: All games are played on the fields in Williamson Park on Delmorr Avenue in Morrisville.
